What Is Enterprise Explorers?
Enterprise Explorers introduces younger students to the ideas behind business, entrepreneurship and turning ideas into opportunities.
Enterprise involves recognising problems or needs and thinking creatively about how they might be addressed. This can mean developing an idea for a product or service, considering who might use it and thinking about what would make that idea useful or appealing.
For younger students, exploring enterprise is also an opportunity to develop skills such as problem-solving, decision-making, teamwork and communicating ideas confidently.
Our Enterprise Explorers summer course introduces these concepts in an age-appropriate way, encouraging students to be curious, creative and willing to develop their own ideas.
What Will Students Explore on the Enterprise Explorers Course?
There is no prescribed syllabus that every student follows. Atlas Summer Courses tutors create their own syllabi, drawing on their expertise while taking the ages, abilities and interests of their students into account.
Depending on the tutor and group, students could explore ideas connected with business, entrepreneurship, customers, products, innovation and communicating an idea.
They might consider questions such as:
- Where do good business ideas come from?
- How can we identify a problem that needs solving?
- What makes a product or service useful?
- Why is understanding your customer important?
- How can creativity help us improve an idea?
- How can we explain and present an idea convincingly?

How Students Learn
Our Junior courses are designed to make academic learning engaging, interactive and appropriate for younger students.
12 hours of small-group lessons
Across the one-week programme, students take part in structured small-group classes. Lessons are designed to get students thinking and learning in an engaging and interactive way, with the tutor encouraging everyone to participate and contribute their ideas.
Each lesson follows a process of review, learning and application, giving students opportunities to build their understanding before applying what they've learned through age-appropriate discussions and activities.
Students are encouraged to solve problems, develop ideas, listen to different perspectives and communicate their thinking. They may work independently at times and collaborate with others as they explore different enterprise challenges.
The aim is to foster creativity and curiosity while helping students become more confident and independent thinkers.
Who Is Enterprise Explorers For?
Our Enterprise Explorers summer course for ages 9–12 is designed for young learners who enjoy developing ideas, solving problems and thinking creatively.
Students don't need any previous knowledge of business or entrepreneurship. The course may particularly appeal to children who enjoy coming up with new ideas, working through challenges, thinking about how things could be improved or presenting their ideas to others.
Students will be encouraged to develop skills including creative thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, communication and collaboration.
With separate age groups for 9–10 and 11–12, teaching can be adapted to provide an appropriate level of challenge for students at different stages.

There is no fixed curriculum that every student follows. Our tutors create their own syllabi based on their academic expertise and the interests and learning needs of their students.
This means the exact topics can vary between courses and years. Any syllabus or topics shown on our website are examples from previous courses and shouldn't be taken as a guarantee of exactly what you'll study.
Teaching depends on your age group. Students aged 9–12 and Scholars aged 12–14 learn through structured, interactive small-group classes. Students aged 13–15 combine small-group seminars with private study, while students aged 16–17 and 18–24 experience seminars, tutorials and independent study.
Across our programmes, teaching is designed to encourage active participation, questioning and independent thinking rather than simply listening to lectures.
Your course includes your academic programme, accommodation, meals and a certificate on completion, alongside the activities and experiences included within your programme.
