Study Marketing and Media in Oxford
Our Marketing and Media summer course in Oxford gives students aged 16–17 the opportunity to spend two weeks exploring how organisations communicate, how audiences engage with messages and how media influences the way information and ideas are shared as part of an Atlas Summer Courses summer experience.
Marketing involves understanding audiences and developing strategies to communicate the value of products, services and ideas. Media provides many of the channels and formats through which those messages reach people, from traditional forms of communication to digital and social platforms.
Across the course, you'll be encouraged to think beyond individual advertisements or campaigns. You'll consider why organisations communicate in particular ways, how audiences might interpret different messages and how strategic and creative decisions can influence engagement.
Outside your academic sessions, you'll experience the wider programme alongside other students, with time to enjoy Oxford and take part in the social and cultural elements of your summer.
What Will You Study on a Marketing and Media Summer Course in Oxford?
There is no prescribed syllabus that every student follows. Atlas Summer Courses tutors create their own syllabi, drawing on their expertise while taking the interests, abilities and learning needs of their students into account.
Depending on your tutor and group, you could explore different areas of marketing, branding, communication, audiences and media.
You might consider questions such as:
- How do organisations understand and communicate with different audiences?
- What makes a brand distinctive?
- How can different forms of media influence the way a message is received?
- What makes a marketing campaign effective?
- How have digital and social media changed communication between brands and audiences?
- How can creativity, research and strategy work together in marketing?
The precise content will reflect your tutor's academic expertise and the interests of the students in your group. Any syllabus shown on our website is an example from a previous course rather than a guarantee of the exact topics you'll study.
