What Is Atlas Summer Courses Foundations?
Atlas Summer Courses Foundations is a modular online learning programme designed to prepare students for the academic approach, expectations, and learning experience of studying with us in person. It introduces the way we teach at Atlas Summer Courses, helping you develop the confidence and understanding to make the most of your summer before you even arrive.
Foundations is fully self-paced and can be completed before, during, or after your course. Once enrolled, you'll have access to interactive lessons, videos, quizzes, and reflective activities that support your wider educational journey, helping you build skills and confidence that extend well beyond your time with us.
Why Foundations Matters
Foundations helps you become a more confident and independent learner before your course begins. By developing skills such as critical thinking, reflection, time management, and independent study, you'll be better prepared to contribute to discussions, manage academic challenges, and make the most of personalised feedback throughout your programme.
It also introduces you to the expectations of learning with Atlas Summer Courses, from our discussion-based teaching approach to the rhythms of daily student life. Arriving with this understanding allows you to settle in quickly, participate with confidence, and get more from every aspect of your summer experience.

What You’ll Learn
Atlas Summer Courses Foundations is organised into five core learning areas that support both academic and personal development. These focus on setting meaningful goals, learning collaboratively, developing independent study habits, engaging confidently in academic discussions, and reflecting on your progress as a learner.
The modules you complete are tailored to your age group and in-person programme, ensuring the content is relevant to your stage of learning and the expectations of your course. While Foundations isn't subject-specific, it provides the skills, confidence, and mindset needed to make the most of your Atlas experience.
How Foundations Works
Atlas Summer Courses Foundations is completely self-paced, giving you the flexibility to learn whenever it suits you. Most lessons take between 5 and 20 minutes to complete, with the full programme typically taking 8–14 hours, depending on your course.
You can revisit lessons, pause and replay videos, and retake quizzes whenever you need to reinforce your understanding. Foundations remains available until the end of September, allowing you to continue learning before, during, and after your in-person programme.
