Atlas Summer Courses Experience by Ivan Hung

What is it like to study in Cambridge? Want to know more about learning English Literature with us?
Hi, my name is Ivan and I would love to share my experiences with you about my fascinating time at Cambridge 2018. **It was as outstanding adventure which allowed me to have my own independence and to create new friends in the duration of the two weeks of my stay ** During this stay, I shared unforgettable experiences with people that I will never forget as we went on trips to explore London and Cambridge; which really helped to develop the bonds with the people around me. Of course, I nearly forgot! **My favourite memory that I will never forget about was when my tutor went out of the way to get us all an ice-cream from the ‘mouth-watering’ Aromi shop; it was too good to describe in words!

Though, focusing on the more academic side of this trip, I had chosen to do English as my subject and it was super-intense, but enjoyable at the same time. My tutor was an extremely hard-working person and would even sometimes send us emails for us next lesson at midnight – this is what motivated me to wake up at 7:00am every morning for breakfast because I was intrigued to see what content we were going to cover in that next lesson!
During our lessons, I learnt a variety of techniques to work around the English language and was mesmerised about how many ways you could tackle a question and how fine-details could make all the difference to a piece of writing. He gave us indelible knowledge that I will treasure forever!
Moving onto the future, this year I am returning to Cambridge and instead I will be doing Physics as my next subject. The reason why I chose physics is because I am interested in going into the tech industry and possibly plan to do coding. I wanted to learn more and the first thought that came to my head was Atlas Summer Courses. I was planning to choose computer science, however I thought of a more wide-ranging subject that wasn't fully dedicated to coding, as I thought it would give me other ideas about what occupation I could choose when I am older.
Lastly, I would like to talk about my school in the UK because I am a day-boarder at a school in England. Currently, I am taking: the compulsory subjects, Triple Science, French, Geography, History and Computer Science. There are also subjects on the 'art side', such as textiles, music, and drama. In my opinion, just like Atlas Summer Courses, my tutors provide me with the support I need and are very helpful at answering questions on their subject and motivating students to stay positive.
Atlas Summer Courses offers a genuinely rewarding residential experience, giving students a real sense of what university-style study and community feel like in the UK. Tutors and student helpers are passionate about their subjects and committed to helping every participant reach their goals — whether studying in Oxford or Cambridge.
