Learning

Outline

At Atlas Summer Courses, Medicine is designed for 13–15-year-olds who are fascinated by how the human body works and what it takes to become a doctor. Students will explore topics such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical ethics, learning how the body responds to illness and injury. They’ll apply their knowledge to real-life case studies, developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills along the way. We don’t follow a fixed curriculum—our tutors tailor the course to the group’s interests, making learning immersive, relevant, and engaging. The course also includes a masterclass focused on teamwork and collaboration, along with a reflection session to help students track their progress and goals.

Teaching methodology

Learning in small groups (typically around 8–10 students) means you get quality time with your teacher and can ask as many questions as you like. Through interactive learning, our teachers will guide you through new concepts and set practice tasks to help build your knowledge and skills. You’ll also have opportunities for group work, independent research, and homework assignments that are discussed in class. Small class sizes mean everyone has the chance to contribute, and students learn from debating with one another as well as from their tutor.

The Atlas Summer Courses Experience

Medicine is where science meets care — and where curiosity can change lives. On this course, students explore the fascinating systems that keep us healthy and the challenges medical professionals face every day. Through hands-on activities, case discussions, and problem-solving tasks, they’ll discover how biology connects to real healthcare decisions — building confidence, empathy, and excitement for what’s possible in the future.

Every weekday includes small seminar-style lessons (up to 10 students) where learners examine medical scenarios, analyse diagnostic clues, and investigate how treatments work. Afternoons feature a blend of directed study, masterclasses, and subject-linked excursions that bring medicine into real-world context. Evenings include structured social activities and supervised downtime within a collegiate setting — helping students build independence in a safe, supportive environment. By the end of the week, they’ll have stronger scientific reasoning, clearer communication skills, and a deeper appreciation of how medicine touches every life.
