Why Study Business and Entrepreneurship Together?

Business explores how organisations operate, make decisions and create value. Entrepreneurship focuses on identifying opportunities and developing ideas into viable ventures.

Studying the subjects together allows you to examine both established organisations and the process of creating something new. You might consider how businesses understand their customers, compete within markets, make strategic decisions or respond when circumstances change.

Entrepreneurship adds another perspective by asking how an initial idea can be evaluated, developed and communicated. It can involve thinking about the problem a business aims to solve, who its customers might be and what would make its proposition distinctive.

A Business and Entrepreneurship summer course gives you the opportunity to explore these ideas and develop a more analytical understanding of how businesses and entrepreneurs approach opportunities and challenges.

What Will You Study on a Business and Entrepreneurship Summer Course?

There is no prescribed syllabus that every student follows. Atlas Summer Courses tutors create their own syllabi, drawing on their expertise while taking the interests, abilities and learning needs of their students into account.

Depending on your course and age group, you could explore areas such as entrepreneurship, business strategy, marketing, leadership, innovation, decision-making or developing a business idea.

You might consider questions such as:

  • What makes a business idea viable?
  • How do entrepreneurs identify opportunities?
  • Why do some businesses succeed while others struggle?
  • How do businesses understand and respond to their customers?
  • What makes a competitive strategy effective?
  • How can an idea be developed into a convincing business proposition?

The depth and approach will reflect the age group you're studying with. Tutors can also develop the course around their own areas of expertise and the interests of their students.

Any syllabus shown on our website is an example from a previous course rather than a guarantee of the exact topics you'll study.
