Learning
Outline
At Atlas Summer Courses, Leadership is designed for 13–15-year-olds who want to develop the confidence, mindset, and skills to lead effectively—both now and in the future. Students will explore key leadership theories, the challenges leaders face, and how leadership can be used as a force for positive change. They’ll learn how to build a vision, motivate others, and lead with empathy and purpose. The course also focuses on personal growth—helping students understand their own strengths and how to bring out the best in themselves and others. We don’t follow a fixed curriculum—our tutors tailor the course to the group’s interests, making each experience meaningful and relevant. The course also includes a masterclass on skills like teamwork and collaboration, as well as a reflection session to review personal goals and progress.
Teaching methodology
Learning in small groups (typically around 8–10 students) means you get quality time with your teacher and can ask as many questions as you like. Through interactive learning, our teachers will guide you through new concepts and set practice tasks to help build your knowledge and skills. You’ll also have opportunities for group work, independent research, and homework assignments that are discussed in class. Small class sizes mean everyone has the chance to contribute, and students learn from debating with one another as well as from their tutor.
The city of Oxford, with nearly 1,000 years of academic history, has been associated with world leaders, changemakers, and innovators, from prime ministers and presidents to influential thinkers and campaigners. As part of the 13–15 Leadership programme, your child will live in a city shaped by debate, decision-making, and ideas that have influenced the world. The city of Oxford provides an inspiring backdrop to develop confidence, teamwork, and the skills to inspire others.
Accommodation is available in single or twin rooms, depending on the tier chosen. Plus students can choose single or twin, Superior guarantees an ensuite, and Premier provides concierge-selected rooms. All options include shared spaces and on-course staff for support.
Meals are provided on a full-board basis, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner included. Students eat in the college dining hall or at local restaurants. All dietary requirements are catered for.
The Atlas Summer Courses Experience
Leadership begins long before a job title — it starts with confidence, communication, and the courage to explore new ideas. This course introduces students to leadership through practical challenges, creative teamwork, and real-world decision-making. They’ll discover what makes great leaders effective, how teams work best, and how their own strengths can make a difference — whether they’re guiding a group, presenting an idea, or supporting others. It’s an inspiring introduction that helps young people find their voice and shape their own path.
Each weekday includes small seminar-style lessons (maximum 10 students), where expert tutors encourage debate, reflection, and leadership in action. Afternoons bring group projects, problem-solving tasks, and activities that build collaboration and confidence — from designing solutions to presenting ideas with clarity. Pastoral support and structured social time ensure every student feels included and empowered throughout the week. They leave with stronger communication skills, greater self-belief, and a practical understanding of how to lead in their own way — now and in the future.
