At Atlas Summer Courses, Law is an advanced course designed for 18–24-year-olds with a strong interest in understanding the intricacies of the legal system. Students will delve into the role of the European Court of Justice, the relationship between legal systems, and how laws shape our thoughts, actions, and society. The course will cover complex topics such as the harmonisation of national laws and key legal concepts on both a national and international level. Students will also critically analyse a variety of legal sources, exploring the evolution and application of law in different global contexts. With expert guidance, students will gain a deep understanding of legal frameworks and the broader social, economic, and political implications of the law. We don’t follow a fixed curriculum—our tutors tailor the course to the group’s interests, making learning both engaging and relevant. The course also includes a masterclass on legal analysis and critical thinking, along with a reflection session to track progress and set new goals.
Teaching methodology
Learn through our distinctive tutorial-style teaching. Your expert tutor will foster independent learning, critical thinking, and intellectual curiosity through interactive small-group seminars of up to 10 students. During your course, you'll complete two pieces of independent work (essays or problem sheets), which your tutor will evaluate in either a 1:1 or 2:1 tutorial. These tutorials allow you to refine your ideas, defend your arguments, receive detailed academic feedback, and engage in sophisticated discussion with your tutor and peers. Designed for adult learners, this teaching approach places greater emphasis on independent research, academic debate, and the confidence to think and communicate at university level. At the end of your course, you'll receive a certificate and a letter of recommendation from your tutor.
The city of Cambridge, with more than 800 years of academic tradition, has been a centre of legal thought and scholarship, shaping ideas of justice, rights, and governance across the world. From historic debates on common law to modern research in international and human rights law, Cambridge has long influenced legal systems and policy. As part of the 18–24 Law (Advanced) programme, you’ll live in a city defined by inquiry and intellectual rigour. The city of Cambridge provides an inspiring backdrop for learning, with its historic colleges, renowned libraries, and a tradition of exploring how law shapes society.
Meals are provided on a half-board basis (breakfast and dinner), served in college dining halls or at selected local restaurants. Students arrange their own lunch. All dietary requirements are catered for.

Law defines how societies function — shaping rights, responsibility, and justice around the world. In Cambridge, students analyse landmark cases, legal principles, and contemporary challenges such as human rights, technological regulation, and international cooperation. Through debate and critical evaluation, they explore how legal systems evolve and how lawyers use evidence, reasoning, and advocacy to drive meaningful outcomes.
This advanced-level course is designed for students who have completed at least two years of undergraduate study (or equivalent) in a related field. Tutorials are capped at ten learners, ensuring rigorous academic discussion and space to refine legal argumentation. Two independent assignments receive personalised tutor feedback that strengthens research, structure, and clarity — essential for further progress in legal studies. With enrichment activities, college-style living, and an international cohort, students develop independence, confidence, and stronger direction in their legal ambitions. Each participant leaves with a certificate of completion and a tailored tutor recommendation to support future applications.

Oxford is open to all learners aged 18–24. Cambridge is more advanced and requires at least two years of undergraduate study in a related subject.
Students aged 18–24 receive a certificate of completion, detailed feedback from their tutor and a personalised letter of recommendation, reflecting their participation, academic progress and achievements during the course.
Atlas Summer Courses gives students aged 18–24 the opportunity to deepen their subject knowledge through small-group teaching and independent study. Students can engage with challenging ideas, develop their own academic thinking and learn alongside an international community of peers.
Applicants must be aged 18–24 and have completed at least the second year of an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a related subject, as these are advanced courses. All lessons are taught in English, so students should have a good working understanding of spoken and written English.
