Study Business and Entrepreneurship in Cambridge

Our Business and Entrepreneurship summer courses in Cambridge give students aged 13–15, 16–17 and 18–24 the opportunity to spend two weeks exploring business, innovation and entrepreneurial thinking as part of an Atlas Summer Courses summer experience.

Business involves understanding how organisations create value, make decisions and respond to customers, competitors and changing markets. Entrepreneurship focuses on identifying opportunities, developing ideas and considering how those ideas could become viable ventures.

Studying the subjects together gives you the opportunity to explore both established business thinking and the process of developing something new. You'll consider how organisations make strategic choices, why some ideas succeed while others struggle and how entrepreneurs can evaluate opportunities before committing resources to them.

Across the course, you'll be encouraged to look beyond simply coming up with a business idea. You'll think critically about customers, markets, competition, strategy and execution while learning to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches.

Outside your academic sessions, you'll experience the wider programme alongside other students, with time to enjoy Cambridge and take part in the social and cultural elements of your Atlas Summer Courses summer.

What Will You Study on a Business and Entrepreneurship Summer Course in Cambridge?

There is no prescribed syllabus that every student follows. Atlas Summer Courses tutors create their own syllabi, drawing on their expertise while taking the interests, abilities and learning needs of their students into account.

Depending on your tutor, group and age range, you could explore different aspects of business, entrepreneurship, strategy, innovation, marketing and commercial decision-making.

You might consider questions such as:

  • How do entrepreneurs identify promising business opportunities?
  • What makes a business idea commercially viable?
  • How can businesses understand the needs of their customers?
  • What influences the way organisations compete and make strategic decisions?
  • How can entrepreneurs test and refine an idea?
  • What role do marketing and branding play in building a business?
  • How can businesses respond to technological, economic or social change?

The depth and approach will reflect the age group you're studying with, as well as your tutor's expertise and the interests of the group. Any syllabus shown on our website is an example from a previous course rather than a guarantee of the exact businesses, entrepreneurial models, case studies or topics you'll study.
