About Atlas Summer Courses

Personalised Summer Experiences in Oxford, Cambridge, and Beyond

Atlas Summer Courses (formerly Oxford Summer Courses) was founded in 2010 by Harry and Rob, graduates of the University of Oxford, with a vision to make the benefits of tutorial-style learning accessible to students from around the world. Drawing on years of teaching and programme development, they created summer programmes that encourage curiosity, independent thinking, and meaningful discussion, free from the pressures of exams and rigid curricula. What began with a single programme in Oxford has grown into an award-winning international education provider, welcoming students aged 9–24 from more than 120 nationalities. Today, Atlas Summer Courses offers personalised summer experiences in Oxford, Cambridge, Harrow School, and beyond, combining expert teaching, small class sizes, cultural immersion, and a supportive international community to help every student discover their potential and build confidence for the future.

Why Atlas Summer Courses Exists

At Atlas Summer Courses, we believe education should do more than prepare students for exams—it should inspire curiosity, encourage independent thinking, and give young people the confidence to shape their own future. We create learning experiences where questions are valued as much as answers, ideas are explored through discussion, and every student is encouraged to think deeply, challenge assumptions, and discover new perspectives.

Our purpose is to make exceptional educational experiences accessible to ambitious students from around the world. By combining the best of university-style teaching with a modern, personalised approach to learning, we help every student develop the knowledge, confidence, and curiosity to pursue their passions, embrace new opportunities, and continue learning long after their summer with us has ended.

Independent, and Proud of It
Atlas Summer Courses offers tutorial-style learning in the historic city of Oxford that's rigorous, personal, and entirely our own.

We are proud to deliver rigorous, curiosity-driven education in some of the world's most celebrated academic cities while remaining completely independent. This freedom allows us to design flexible, personalised programmes that keep students — not institutions — at the centre of everything we do. Our courses take place in Oxford, Cambridge, Harrow, and international venues chosen for their ability to inspire imagination and confidence.

Students live and learn in authentic settings, from historic colleges to world-renowned schools, where they can walk the same halls as pioneering thinkers while developing ideas of their own. Our independence ensures we stay true to our mission — making exceptional, curiosity-driven education accessible to enquiring minds everywhere.

Where We Teach

Atlas Summer Courses delivers summer programmes in some of the distinctive and well-regarded educational settings, including Oxford and Cambridge colleges whose facilities we hire during the summer and Harrow School. Each location is carefully selected for its rich academic heritage, cultural significance, and ability to provide an environment where students can learn, grow, and be inspired.

While every destination offers its own distinctive character, every Atlas Summer Course shares the same commitment to personalised learning, intellectual curiosity, and meaningful connections. Whether studying in the heart of Oxford, experiencing the traditions of Cambridge, or learning at the prestigious Harrow School, students benefit from expert teaching, an international community, and an immersive summer experience that encourages them to think independently, broaden their perspectives, and discover their potential.

How We Teach

At Atlas Summer Courses, we believe the most meaningful learning happens through curiosity, discussion, and exploration. Rather than following a rigid curriculum, our programmes are designed to adapt to students' interests, questions, and ideas, allowing expert tutors and subject specialists to create engaging lessons that are both academically challenging and personally relevant. Through discussion, debate, collaboration, and reflection, students are encouraged to think critically, explore different perspectives, and develop the confidence to ask meaningful questions.

Our teaching approach evolves as students grow. Junior students (ages 9–12) build confidence through interactive, hands-on learning that inspires curiosity and creativity. Students aged 13–15 develop greater independence through discussion-based learning, collaborative projects, and critical thinking. Students aged 16–24 experience university-style seminars and personalised tutorials that encourage deeper analysis, intellectual confidence, and independent learning. At every stage, our goal is the same: to help students become curious, confident, and independent learners who are prepared not only for academic success, but for a lifetime of discovery.

Our Promise to Students

At Atlas Summer Courses, every student is treated as an individual. We promise a learning experience built on curiosity, respect, and meaningful academic challenge, where questions are encouraged, ideas are explored, and every student is supported to reach their full potential. Through personalised teaching, small class sizes, and a welcoming international community, we help students develop the confidence to think independently, communicate their ideas clearly, and embrace new perspectives.

Whether you're discovering a new passion or deepening your understanding of a subject you already love, you'll learn alongside expert teachers and tutors who are invested in your success and peers who inspire fresh ways of thinking. We promise an experience that extends beyond the classroom—one that broadens your horizons, builds lasting friendships, and equips you with the confidence, curiosity, and skills to shape your future.

Our Community

At Atlas Summer Courses, students join a truly international learning community, with participants from more than 150 nationalities coming together each summer to share ideas, broaden perspectives, and learn from one another. Small class sizes, collaborative learning, and discussion-based teaching create an environment where every student is encouraged to contribute, listen, and engage with different viewpoints in a spirit of curiosity and mutual respect.

Beyond the classroom, friendships are built through shared meals, cultural experiences, social activities, and life on campus. These connections often continue long after the programme ends, creating a global network of students brought together by a shared passion for learning, cultural exchange, and personal growth.

Beyond the Classroom

At Atlas Summer Courses, we believe some of the most meaningful learning happens beyond the classroom. Every programme is enriched by cultural experiences, excursions, and social activities that encourage students to explore their surroundings, engage with new perspectives, and connect their academic learning to the world around them. Whether discovering the historic streets and architecture of Oxford, exploring the museums and cultural landmarks of Cambridge, or experiencing life at Harrow School, students are immersed in environments that inspire curiosity, creativity, and independent thinking.

These shared experiences help students build confidence, develop lasting friendships, and gain a deeper appreciation of different cultures and ideas. By combining academic study with cultural exploration and an international community, Atlas Summer Courses creates summer experiences that continue to inspire long after students return home.

What Students Take Away

At Atlas Summer Courses, students leave with far more than academic knowledge. They develop the confidence to think independently, communicate their ideas clearly, and approach new challenges with curiosity, creativity, and resilience. Alongside stronger critical thinking, research, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, students gain a deeper understanding of their chosen subjects and the confidence to apply their learning in future education and beyond.

Equally important are the personal connections and global perspectives students gain through learning alongside peers from more than 150 nationalities. By sharing ideas, embracing different viewpoints, and building lasting friendships, students return home with broadened horizons, renewed self-belief, and a lifelong enthusiasm for learning that extends well beyond their summer with Atlas Summer Courses.

Looking Ahead

Since 2010, Atlas Summer Courses has welcomed thousands of students from around the world, creating learning experiences that inspire curiosity, confidence, and independent thinking. As we continue to grow, our commitment remains the same: to provide personalised, discussion-based education that helps every student discover their potential in some of the world's most inspiring academic environments.

The true measure of our success is what students take with them when they leave. Whether returning to school, progressing to university, or beginning the next stage of their personal or professional journey, they carry forward the knowledge, skills, friendships, and global perspectives they have gained through their time with Atlas Summer Courses. We hope every student leaves not only with a deeper understanding of their chosen subject, but with the confidence to embrace new opportunities, ask bigger questions, and continue learning for a lifetime.

Everything we do at Atlas Summer Courses is guided by a simple belief: great education helps people grow. We encourage curiosity, independent thinking, and the confidence to ask questions, challenge ideas, and explore new perspectives in a supportive and inclusive environment. We believe every student should feel valued, respected, and empowered to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally.

Our community is built on collaboration, kindness, and mutual respect. We celebrate different cultures, experiences, and viewpoints, creating an international learning environment where students learn as much from one another as they do from their teachers and tutors. We are committed to continually improving our programmes, embracing new ideas, and ensuring every student leaves Atlas with greater confidence, stronger skills, lasting friendships, and a lifelong enthusiasm for learning.
